Frequently asked questions about fireplace mantles
What are hardwood fireplace mantles made from?
All of the hardwood fireplace mantles we stock are made from solid oak. They come in a range of sizes, shapes and finishes, and all necessary fittings are included. If you'd like to see them in person before you decide, you're welcome to call into our Drogheda showroom and have a look.
Can I pair a hardwood mantle with a stove, or is it only suitable over an open fire?
A hardwood mantle can work well with a stove, provided the correct clearance distances to combustible materials are maintained. Building regulations and stove manufacturer guidelines both specify minimum distances - typically measured from the top of the stove outlet or the face of a fireplace opening - and a timber mantle must sit outside those clearance zones. Getting the measurements right before you order means you can choose a mantle that suits the proportions of the fireplace mantles surround without any compromise on safety.
Are the hardwood mantles available for delivery, or do I need to collect them?
These mantles are available for collection only. Because each piece is handmade and one-off, viewing before you collect is strongly recommended so you can confirm the exact size and finish suits your space. If you have questions ahead of your visit, the team is easy to reach through the contact page and can let you know what is currently available and give you dimensions before you make the trip.
