Phoenix Stoves FAQs
What types of Phoenix stoves are available at Stone & Stoves?
The Phoenix range covers three types of stove: the freestanding ORE room heater, the RUBY insert stove and the SAPPHIRE cassette stove. Every model is multi-fuel, so you can burn seasoned wood or approved smokeless solid fuel, which gives you flexibility day to day and across the heating season. Output ranges from 5 kW up to 9 kW, so there is a size suited to most living rooms and open-plan spaces. If you want help matching the right output to your room, contact us or call into our Drogheda showroom.
What flue size do Phoenix stoves need?
Phoenix stoves have a 5-inch (125 mm) flue outlet, and the flue should never be smaller than this. The minimum flue size required under Building Regulations (Part J) also depends on the fuel you plan to burn, so your installer will confirm whether a 125 mm or 150 mm flue is needed for your setup. If you have an existing chimney, it will need to be checked and is often lined; if there is no chimney, a twin wall flue system is the usual alternative. Getting the flue right matters, because an incorrectly sized flue affects draw and efficiency regardless of how well the stove itself performs. We stock twin wall and flexible flue components, so the stove and flue can be sourced together.
Can Phoenix stoves use an external air kit?
Yes - an external air kit is available for both Phoenix ORE models (5 kW and 8 kW). An external air kit draws combustion air from outside through a duct in the wall or floor, rather than from the room, which helps the stove get the air it needs without relying on a large vent in the room. This is increasingly relevant in new-build and airtight homes, particularly where mechanical ventilation is fitted, but your installer should confirm the right air supply arrangement for your property. If you are unsure whether your home needs one, contact us and the Stone & Stoves team can advise before you order.
