Stone Cladding Ireland — Frequently Asked Questions
What is stone cladding Ireland, and can it be used indoors and outdoors?
Stone cladding is a decorative facing material — thin stone panels fixed to a wall surface — that works well in both interior and exterior settings. Because the panels are non-load-bearing, you get the look and texture of natural stone without any structural implications. Our stone cladding range includes sandstone, slate, and quartz options suited to feature walls, chimney breasts, and exterior facades, all designed to handle Ireland's damp climate without deteriorating. If you'd like to see the panels in person before you buy, you're welcome to visit us at our Drogheda showroom.
How do I calculate how much stone cladding I need?
Multiply height by width for each surface to be covered, then subtract any openings such as doors or windows — that gives you your total square meterage. Add an extra 10% on top to allow for cuts and wastage. Each product page on our stone cladding range includes a worked calculation guide to help you along. If you're unsure, call into us at our Drogheda showroom and we'll work it out with you.
Do I need to prepare the wall before fitting stone cladding panels?
It depends on the surface — bare blockwork generally needs no preparation, but an existing plastered or dashed wall must be cleaned back to the original surface by sandblasting or wire brushing, or have a metal mesh fixed with corrosion-resistant nails before the panels go on. Once the surface is ready, panels are applied using a flexi adhesive, working from the bottom up and avoiding continuous vertical joints for a natural finish. Our team in the Drogheda showroom are happy to talk you through the prep steps for your specific wall type before you order your stone cladding.
