Technical Data Sheet:
ARC MAGNA BOARD
Arc MagnaBoard is a chloride free magnesium board for use a substrate prior to tiling.
It offers the following advantages over traditional substrates such as Gypsum and
Plywood boards:
• Moisture & water resistant – Magna Boards will not physically deteriorate, swell or expand when subject to water or moisture.
• Mould & mildew resistant
• Fire Resistant – Non-combustible, non-flammable to A1
• Impact Resistant – Withstands surface impact
• Ease of application – Lightweight and easy to cut
• Strong – Reinforced with a fiberglass mesh
• Will not crack, expand or corrode when subject to temperature or moisture variations
• Interior & exterior use
USES
For wall & floor tiling in internal & external locations. Ideal for kitchens, bathrooms and other high humidity areas. Suitable for use around stoves and flues as they are A1 fire rated and non-flammable and noncombustible. MagnaBoards are suitable for forming external facades and will receive a wide range of finishes including various render types, paint, plaster and brickslips.
INSTALLATION
Wall installation:
MagnaBoards can be attached to either timber or steel studwork using stainless steel or hot dipped galvanised screws. Fix boards horizontally to the frame with fixings every 300mm. Fixings should be a minimum of 15mm from the edge and 20mm from corners. Boards should be offset so 4 corners never meet at the same point.
Floor installation:
MagnaBoards can be fixed to concrete or timber floors. Fix boards to a concrete sub floor using an Arc flexible tile adhesive ensuring full surface contact. Boards should be offset so 4 corners never meet at the same point. Timber floors should be a minimum of 18mm thick and properly prepared ensuring stability and minimum movement. Fix boards with fixings every 300mm. Fixings should be a minimum of 15mm from the edge and 20mm from corners. Boards should be offset so 4 corners never meet at the same point.
Joints:
Joints should be taped with either Arc Scrim Tape or for water resistance, Arc Butyl Sealing Tape.
Priming:
The boards should be fixed with the rough side out as this will give greater adhesion to the tile adhesive. Surfaces should be primed with Arc Tilers Primer diluted 3:1 with water.
MagnaBoards have been tested and are approved for use with Arc Tile Adhesives and Primers.
STORAGE
Boards should be stored flat on a pallet off the ground. Boards should not be leant upright for long periods of time. Store indoors in dry conditions.
